I have some very, very sad news to report. Our very dear friend, Dave Winter, passed away while vacationing in Barbados. It was sudden and completely unexpected.Dave was someone bigger than life itself. He was one of those people who never seemed to be down, always had a heart filled with kindness and generosity, and to me was like a brother. He will be sorely, extremely sorely missed. We will be planning something in his memory, also attached to our Rotary Club of NJ, the SpectraCare Foundation, and the Torch Leadership Academy, all of which he supported heavily both financially and with much volunteer time. He cared. He really cared about both youth development and missions to help those in great need.We gave Dave a lifetime achievement award at our recent annual Gala in the Battleship NJ. This is the award text from the program book:David A. Winter, MASPS, MAEA David attended Newark State University, where he received a BA in Science Education in 1972, and Kean University, where he received an MA in Student Personnel Services in 1978 and an MA in Educational Administration in 1985. From 1979 through 1987, he taught Grade 7-9 Science for the East Brunswick Board of Education, and then from 1987 to 2006 for the Shrewsbury/Keyport Boards of Education. At East Brunswick, he taught classes from 1987 to 2006 and served as a School Business Administrator and Board Secretary. During his tenure, while tending to a variety of daily and monthly tasks, he was also responsible for multi-million-dollar renovation projects, one at Keyport and another at Shrewsbury.Professionally, he was an active member of NJEA, the NJ Association of School Business Officials, and the NJ Association of School Business Officials (NASBO), the latter of which selected him not once but twice to receive their prestigious Meritorious Service Award among a total of 600 Business Administrators statewide. On his retirement, they also awarded him with Emeritus recognition. While Dave was most competent at administration, he never lost his extreme passion for teaching and motivating youth to live successful lives and to develop leadership skills. To that end, he joined Rotary International in 1998, specializing in developing programming and supporting scholarships for Rotary’s Youth Leadership Academy, and more recently became an advisor for the Torch Leadership Academy. At Torch, not only did he develop the program segment “Walk a Mile in My Shoes”, but through RYLA and Torch combined, he has personally funded over 600 full student scholarships. He will be sharing the story of one of his most recent student leaders, who is here with us tonight. In Rotary, he has served as Secretary in the only statewide club in NJ, the Rotary Club and Foundation of New Jersey, and he also serves as its Chair of Youth Programs. Dave is PASSIONATE about youth leadership development and is the cornerstone of all of the Youth Leadership Development Initiatives as an Advisory Board member of the Spectracare Foundation.Dave splits his time between Connecticut and Naples, FL and is most happily married to Pam, his wife. He has one son. Please say a prayer for him and his family at this difficult time. And if you were lucky enough to know him and be touched by him, recognize how rare an opportunity it was to have him in your life. There are few souls so precious as was he.🥰 See MoreSee Less

🇺🇸 “We Are Thankful for Our Veterans” Breakfast – November 20th, 2025 🇺🇸This past Thursday, we gathered for our “We Are Thankful for Our Veterans Breakfast” at the Carlton R. Rouh Veterans Center in Lindenwold to honor and appreciate the incredible men and women who have served our nation. Every year, we take this time to recognize our veterans for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication—but the truth is, we should be thanking them all year round. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to our active-duty service members and all first responders who continue to protect and support our communities. You are our heroes, and we are forever grateful.A very special thank-you goes to Rocco Gallelli from Innovative Catering Concepts for generously donating the delicious breakfast for our heroes. Your kindness and support truly made this event even more meaningful. 🙏🍳Another highlight of the morning came from our talented Culinary and Arts & Crafts instructor, Shy Myers. Shy, who also teaches at the Goddard School in Cherry Hill, had her little students—ages 14 months to 5 years—create beautiful handmade artwork to give to each veteran at the breakfast. Their adorable creations brought smiles, warmth, and a special touch of love to the celebration. ❤️🎨Thank you to all who joined us, and thank you to every hero who serves. We are proud to stand with you—today and always. 🇺🇸✨#innovativecateringconcepts #thankfulforourveterans #carltonrrouhveteranscenter icccatering.com spectracarefoundation.org See MoreSee Less
