While Presidents’ Day primarily celebrates the nation’s leaders, it also serves as an opportunity to reflect on the values and freedoms that our veterans have valiantly defended. The principles upheld by our presidents are safeguarded by the courageous service of military personnel, whose sacrifices ensure the preservation of our democracy.In recognition of this connection, various military activities and events are held on Presidents’ Day. Traditionally, 21-gun salutes are performed across the United States and overseas, honoring the office of the presidency and those who serve.
