Coffee and Conversation – July 10, 2025
Coffee and Conversation continues to be a space where veterans come together not only to share stories and build friendships but also to find resources, support, and a true sense of belonging. It’s a community gathering that strengthens bonds, encourages healing, and reminds every veteran that they are never alone.![]()
Mike Klink, who met Marc Deloison of M.G.D. Construction and M.G.D. Crafts and spoke to him about helping the veterans at the SpectraCare Foundation through a Gala sponsorship. Although Marc had never heard of our organization before, he was moved by Mike’s passion and enthusiasm, and without hesitation, he donated a handcrafted wooden map of the United States featuring the American Flag, made by him. This beautiful, patriotic piece is more than just artwork—it’s a powerful symbol of unity and support. A stunning tribute to our country and those who serve it.![]()
Marc is a skilled wood craftsman whose work combines artistry with purpose. His pieces reflect deep patriotism, creativity, and quality craftsmanship. You can see more of Marc’s incredible work and custom projects by visiting his Facebook page:

Thank you, Marc, for your meaningful and generous contribution and for standing behind our veterans. Thank you to Mike and Shelly for their continued support of the upcoming "Honor Our Heroes Gala" on September 18, 2025. Their commitment to the veteran community is unwavering, and they’ve been working hard to help secure sponsors for this important event. Moments like these show how one conversation can lead to extraordinary acts of generosity.

🐴 Where Healing Begins — For Horses and Heroes
📍 Forgotten Angels Equine Rescue, Medford, NJ
The last Equine Therapy Retreat for Veterans was held on May 10th, 2025. At Forgotten Angels Equine Rescue (FAER) in Medford, NJ, healing begins with compassion. Founded in 2012 by Darlene Supnick and Lisa Draharod, FAER is the only horse rescue in Burlington County, run entirely by volunteers and 100% donation-based. Their mission is powerful: to rescue horses from slaughter auctions and negligent situations, rehabilitate them, and find them loving, forever homes.![]()
Since its founding, FAER has saved over 350 horses, giving each one a second chance at life. Whether rescued from kill auctions or removed from neglectful owners, each horse goes through a journey of quarantine, medical care, and healing before being adopted. And if that adoption doesn’t work out, FAER always welcomes them back—because once you’re part of the FAER family, you’re never forgotten.![]()
🌎 Their vision?
A world where no horse is left to suffer or sent to slaughter.![]()
🤝 SpectraCare Foundation and Forgotten Angels Equine Rescue proudly host many of these equine retreats together throughout the year, offering consistent, meaningful healing opportunities for veterans in our community.![]()
These rescued horses—once broken or abandoned—stood strong alongside veterans coping with PTSD and other service-related challenges. The bond between them was immediate and undeniable.![]()
Through grooming, walking, and just being present with the horses, our veterans found grounding, trust, and peace in an environment free of judgment. The mutual healing was profound. The horses, once voiceless victims, have become active participants in helping our nation’s heroes find their way back to wholeness.![]()
These retreats are a testament to the transformative power of rescue, both human and animal.![]()

📸 Photography with Tom MacPherson – June 26, 2025
at the Carlton R. Rouh Veterans Center![]()
Following Thursday’s Coffee and Conversation, veterans enjoyed an engaging photography session with Tom MacPherson. This week, Tom focused on portrait mode using cell phones — a favorite tool for capturing personal and powerful images.![]()
Tom explained how portrait mode helps blur the background to bring sharp focus to the subject, creating a professional-looking photo right from your phone. Veterans practiced finding the right lighting, angles, and depth-of-field effects that make portraits stand out — all without needing fancy equipment.![]()
Thank you, Tom, for showing us how everyday devices can become creative tools, and for helping our veterans tell their stories through powerful portraits.![]()
